The Battle for Time - Week of June 5

June 16, 2016 The Tite Group

While we usually work on a Sunday-Saturday (IE: June 5-11) time frame, we found it more than appropriate to focus this week’s Battle for Time on the mass shooting that occurred at Pulse nightclub in Orlando this past Sunday.

Forty-nine people were killed and another 53 were injured in what is reported as the worst mass shooting in American history. In a shootout after a hostage situation, police killed gunman Omar Mateen.

While it is reported that Mateen called 911 before the incident to claim his allegiance to the Islamic State, there is so far no evidence that supports him having a direct tie to the group.

The victims were people’s friends. Brothers. Sisters. Cousins. Sons. Daughters. In an act of hate, their lives were taken from them.

This is what captured our minutes this week.

Instead of breaking this down our usual way, we just have a few words to say.

We should not have to explain why this massacre matters and why it’s a narrative that’s important to discuss.

Love is love. We’re all human beings and we all deserve to live our lives to the fullest.

It will change how the US presidential candidates move forward in their campaigns. It will cross international borders and impact how the LGBTQ2 community stands together. It will make storytellers everywhere rethink how they tell stories.

From everyone at The Tite Report and The Tite Group, we offer our sincerest thoughts and condolences to the families and friends of those lost and to those who were injured in Orlando.
