Instagram is Becoming a Mall

You've seen it coming for a long time.

First it was the caption "shop this look with the link in my bio." Then it was bloggers linking to LIKEtoKNOW.it. Then you noticed the sponsored posts. Then it came in full force with new contact buttons and a literal "shop now" button available on retailer's Instagram pages.

What started as a photo-sharing platform has now become a hub for e-commerce transactions to begin.

New data from L2 shows that from 2015 to 2016, department stores that include shoppable features on their posts jumped from 27% to 45%. Why? Because mobile users love to shop mobile. Not on a desktop, but on their phones, on the bus, on the way to work.

You've already been told to make your website mobile-friendly. But have you considered making your sales opportunities mobile friendly?

L2 makes a pretty convincing case below. We're watching, Instagram.
