Do you know what it means to be a social butterfly?

It's not that person you envied in high school who could talk about anything with anyone.

It's the person who can hang with the hashtags, be in the know on which social media giants owns which app and navigate the all the tiny (or huge) feature updates that you had no idea about.

Oh and this all happens well before her first coffee, we might add. 

Logan Kazman, The Tite Group's own social media specialist, is just that person around here. Every Tuesday, she'll be sharing "Learning with Logan" where you'll get the inside scoop on the top social media news of the week. 

All in point form too. Phew!

Snapchat gets Political

  • Surprise surprise! Snapchat released its first sponsored political lens for Democratic Super PAC  ​

  • "The lens dresses users up in Clinton's hair and three of her signature pantsuit tops—in red, white and blue. The 8-second animation features a background image of the White House and the Snapchat user "shimmies while a voice recording in the background says, "Whew, OK," referencing a viral moment from the first presidential debate.

  • Hit or Miss: What better way to target young voters than through selfies!? I think it's a smart move that is playing off of one of the hottest apps. We will see tonight how effective it was! 

Johnnie Walker: This Land 

  • This spot is a powerful piece that showcases a spoken rendition of "This Land Is Your Land." The campaign works to represent the cultural diversity of the United States as well as showcase how each and every person plays an important role within American society. ​

  • "We hope our campaign ignites meaningful discourse on cultural diversity and how it adds to the rich fabric of America today."

  • Hit or Miss: I think this spot was well done and obviously well-timed (right before elections). Johnnie Walker seemed to stay true to its brand voice, while also conveying a valuable and important message regarding cultural diversity.  

YouTube rolls out support for HDR Videos 

  • HDR offers improved picture quality with higher contrast. Not all consumers will be able to enjoy this right away, the new HDR videos are slowly rolling out to the public. To introduce this new launch, YouTube has created a "launch playlist" to showcase examples...JUST WOW!  

  • Hit or Miss: This is huge, especially for advertisers and their video content. Better quality content, even if we mean the actual quality of the physical video, will always capture audiences' minutes in this Battle for Time. No one has time for bad-looking vids.

What's App is testing a clone of Snapchat

  • Facebook-owned messaging platform joined the party with Status.

  • "A feature that lets users share mood-setting pictures and videos overlaid with other custom elements such as emoji, with the content disappearing 24 hours after it’s shared — so basically a copy of Snapchat Stories."

  • Hit or Miss: I understand why Facebook would want the WhatsApp network (1 billion+) to begin sharing visual content, but what I don't understand is why it's the exact same functionality as Snapchat. Audiences don't have the time of day for same stuff, different name products.

Facebook Messenger, "Instant Games"

  • Facebook is reportedly building lightweight games for users to play on messenger

  • Hit or Miss: I can see this being both a hit and a miss. Miss for brands as people may not be browsing feeds and viewing content, whereas it's also a hit as more people could be on the platform altogether!
