Through mistakes, we learn. Sure, you may think we're being awfully double-rainbow about this, but owning and admitting to your mistakes is pretty legit (it's actually even written into The Tite Group's values).
The problem when it comes to mistakes is not knowing how to move forward. Not so much moving forward in the sense of knowing an automatic solution, but moving forward in the sense of learning to improve future actions. That's being proactive and that's what gets brands, marketers, agencies, etc. in the long-term game.
After all, if you're going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again, you might as well be hitting your head repeatedly against a wall. Who wants to do that?
